v.2015 SATISFACTION
PINOT NOIR, Kessler-Haak Vineyard
$55 – 750ml
Partial whole cluster
22 months in barrel
Mostly neutral oak/native yeast
Winemaker Notes
“Satisfaction” is from the Kessler-Haak Vineyard located on the western side of the Sta. Rita Hills appellation. The grapes were harvested during the cool early morning hours and brought to the winery in the early morning hours.
This wine is a combination of pommard and 2A clones. The grapes were fermented in open-top fermenters and held for 32 days including extended maceration. 25% whole cluster fruit was employed. Gently pressed directly to barrel, the wine aged in French oak for 22 months. 10 percent new barrels were used.
On The Palate
Satisfaction” is an aromatic and feminine-style Pinot that is fruit-driven with notes of wild strawberry compote with rhubarb, caramel and tarragon with hints of cardamom.
Artist Notes
Like the juicy pulp of a blood orange or the slip of a silk scarf across the skin, the artwork for “Satisfaction” evokes subconscious movement based on the feeling of the song: the baseline, the guitar riffs, and Jagger’s voice. The sexy undertone of the lyrics is hinted at in the negative space of the piece, while the linework remains soft and fluid in reference to the wine’s flavor profile.
Winemaker Quote
“This expression of Pinot Noir seems to offer everything that one would expect from Sta. Rita Hills—purity of fruit, wild strawberry, elegance, and a bright lively mouthfeel. It brings so much Satisfaction! But…there’s so much more to come…”
