Satisfaction is an aromatic and feminine-style Pinot that is fruit-driven with notes of orange rind and spice on the nose. Flavors of soft cola and plum on the palate linger with a peppery finish.
Grapes were harvested and brought to the winery in the early morning hours. The grapes were fermented in open-top fermenters and held for 32 days including extended maceration. 10% whole cluster fruit was employed. Gently pressed directly to barrel, the wine aged in French oak for 12 months. 10% new barrels were used.
This wine is a different beast. This wine makes you think …

“This expression of Pinot Noir seems to offer everything that one would expect from Sta. Rita Hills—purity of fruit, wild strawberry, elegance, and a bright lively mouthfeel. It brings so much Satisfaction! But…there’s so much more to come…”

“Ripe, concentrated and rich, with lots of black cherries, framboise, smoked earth and integrated oak, the 2013 Pinot Noir Satisfaction has bright acidity, notable tannin and solid length. It will be interesting to see where this goes with bottle age, but I suspect it needs 3-4 years to hit its peak, and should keep through 2023 or beyond.”

“This new project from Steve and Chrystal Clifton from Palmina and formerly Brewer-Clifton is exciting and tasty. Plump red cherry, fine-grained clove, allspice, nutmeg, sage, kola nut and a touch of chile spice show on the supple but focused nose. Tart cranberry, sour cherry and peppery sage pop on the energetic palate.”
